Journal

And I'm back. posted Jul 7th 2005, 3:18PM

Well, I haven't written a journal entry in quite some time, now. It's been too long, methinks, and some of my friends are doubtlessly wondering how I am. Some of you even seem to have been worried about me. I can, however, tell you, that there's no need for alarm.

I have a new quasi-girlfriend (Girlfriend is the closest word in the English language.) named Meghan Green, who is without a doubt the most pleasant woman I've ever met. She's kind, gentle, caring, and not above smacking me when I'm being annoying.

We generally spend our evenings chitchatting or watching various TV series on DVD, typically cartoons at the moment. We just got through the Tenchi OAV, Trigun and Samurai Jack.

We had a few rough patches where we were getting ahead of ourselves, and not being who we really are, but we're getting past that, and becoming much more comfortable in each other's presence, I feel. We had an especially lovely 4th of July, though it was rather hectic, truth be told.

I spent the night over at her house the night before, and when we woke up, we had to immediately race home to my grandparents. Meghan Played Super Mario World, while I 'diligently' cleaned out my birds cage. I basically threw all the crap laden contents into a sink and let them soak an hour or two, and watched Miggity-Meg play games, while Spike sat on her shoulder and chirped.

Thereafter, we took off at 1:00 to fetch a watermelon, and then zoom off to my Aunt Debby's house, for the 4th of July BBQ held in honor of my cousin/niece Madison's birthday party. The food was spelndid, and my family gushed over Meghan. They loved her. I slipped Madison five dollars, she hugged me. And then Meghan gushed over my 5th cousins cute little daughter, a priceless little Philipino girl whose name escapes me; cutest thing in the world.

After that, I had to run home and change into something cooler while Meghan ran over to her apartment to get desert, pop and movies, and then we both ran like mad to my friends Zeb and Stephanie's apartment for.... You guessed it, another Barbecue.

We sat, we talked, we laughed, we cried. God I love Zeb & Stephanie, priceless folks, and great friends. We laughed and cried for two hours, just yaking and watching Comedy Central DVD's, but alas, soon it was time to go, so we gave our hugs and kisses and farewells.

...And zippe on over to Megs apartment, where she parked, and hopped into my car, and we hit I-205 north, and hauled ass tog et t my Sister Denahls in time for the 4th of July fireworks spectacular. They insisted we come, because they don't often see me, and they'd spent about $500.00 on fireworks this year, and wanted me and Meghan to be there when they blew up the cul desac.

So, we spent about thirty minutes visiting, then an hour and a half, lighting sparklers and shooting off Roman Candles, watching my Brother in law Don, and my nephews Kevin, Zack and whats-his name (One of Dons kids.) lighting off pyrotechnic displays of dozens of expensive and halfway illegal Washington fireworks. It was a damned amazing show, the entire Hillside of Camus was lighting off hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks per household, so there was never a dull moment.

After that, I dropped her off at home, drove home, and proceeded to fall into bed and die at about midnight. So, there you have it. A day in the life of Ian and Meghan.

The 'other' reason you haven't seen me online much lately, is a game called Knights of the Old Republic, the most awesome Star Wars game ever conceived. It's an RPG made using the Aurora engine, and the D20 system, making for not only a lovely, but also a well-conceived RPG.

The game kept me riveted for approximately thirty-five hours over the last two weeks. Positively bad-ass, I recommend it to everyone who has the system capacity to play it, and even a passing interest in Star Wars.

I have no ending for this, so I take a small bow.
